Award-winning alt country-rock artist Robert Paul King is a Nashville-trained songwriter, singer, and guitarist currently living and performing in the heartland of British Columbia, Canada. King performs original and cover songs solo, and with Tangerine, and accordian infused duo featruing some great songs of the 40's, 50's and 60's, plus some newer favorites. King can be found performing throughout the Thompson-Okanagan region, and credits influences influences ranging from the Eagles, The Beatles, Doobie Brothers, Hank Williams, Garth Brooks, and Keith Urban. King seeks to entertain by playing music he really enjoys — so his sets often move among his diverse tastes, from tender ballads, country two-steps, bluesy songs, Latin music, modern standards, and high energy classic rock ‘n roll.
As an original artist, King has had several songs on national and regional radio over the years and has received a variety of recognition for his music. His breakout album in the early 1980’s featured the charted country hit song, “Call Mary,” an uptempo and fun song about what can happen when graffiti and loneliness collide. With national radio coverage, “Call Mary” also ranked #4 on an Ontario station and won the $10,000 grand prize in a Vancouver radio station competition. Full bio

June 2026
During the last number of months the calendar has been filled with many wonderful events - singalongs, concerts, and dances. both as a solo performer and also with the duo, TANGERINE. The biggest news for me recently is the inclusion of a song I wrote, “Horses Don't Lie,” which is in a documentary movie called, “Rodeo Women.” The movie is a look at rodeo life in Canada mostly through the eyes of the women who support it. The producer of the movie, Celia Haig-Brown, was once seriously involved in Candian rodeo life, providing championship stock to the sport. This look behind the scenes offers a different and often poignant look at the women and men who have made rodeo their way of life.
"Horses Don't Lie" is played over the credits at the end of the documentary. I am happy to add that the recording was produced and engineered by Doug Perry at Perry's Recording Studio in Kamloops, B.C., and that all the singers and other musicians are also Canadian. As a documentary film, “Rodeo Women” is currently being made available to the film festival circuit, and, because of that, is not yet available on other big or little screens.
Another news item is the up-coming RPK concert, which will be held June 30th in Vernon. This is a popular annual event, and this year year will be held at Vernon's Schubert Centre. As usual the first half will be most geared towards a concert experience, while the second half will be more encouraging to those who like to dance whle they listen. Almost all of the songs will be ones I've written or co-written over the years. The tickets, which are $25.00 per person (cash only please) and are availble now and until showtime at the Schubert Centre, and tickets include complimentary appies. A bar service will also be available. The doors will open at 6:00 pm and the show starts at 7:00 pm. I LOVE doing this concert!
