Bio
Award-winning country-rock artist Robert Paul King is a Nashville-trained songwriter, singer, and guitarist currently living and performing in the heartland of British Columbia, Canada. His breakout album in the early 1980’s featured the charted country hit song, “Call Mary,” an uptempo and fun song about what can happen when graffiti and loneliness collide. With national radio coverage, “Call Mary” also ranked #4 on an Ontario station and won the $10,000 grand prize in a Vancouver radio station competition. His song “Toys in the Rain” won first prize in a Kamloops, B.C. radio station songwriting contest, and was featured in a video by CHBC, a sub-station of CBC. “Coconut Lover” is one of King’s more notable songs that was played nationally on a variety of stations.
Today, King performs original and cover songs as a solo entertainer, and with Rockin' Horse Band, and they play throughout the Thompson-Okanagan region. With influences ranging from the Eagles, Beatles, Doobie Brothers, to Hank Williams, Garth Brooks, and Keith Urban, King seeks to entertain by playing music he really enjoys and hopes his audiences will too — so his sets often move among his diverse tastes, from tender ballads, country two-steps, bluesy songs, Latin music, modern standards, and high energy classic rock ‘n roll.
“Most of my songs are about relationships,” he says, and that aspect also shows up in many of his cover choices as well. Check out King’s song lists and original music, and watch for news of future shows!
Robert Paul King
In the words of his fans...
My wife and I belong to the Shuswap Vintage Car Club in Salmon Arm and we had Robert Paul King play for us at our annual Christmas party and dance. The dance was the best we have ever had. King's ability to read the crowd and play the music everybody likes is amazing. He kept the dance floor full all night long performing his great selection of songs and music. "Bob" is a very talented musician and his ability to sing, play and perform makes him one of the best entertainers in the North Okanagan. We will definitely be getting Robert paul King back for future events. We have no hesitation in recommending him for YOUR future party or dance.
