Award-winning alt country-rock artist Robert Paul King is a Nashville-trained songwriter, singer, and guitarist currently living and performing in the heartland of British Columbia, Canada.  King performs original and cover songs solo, and with Tangerine, and accordian infused duo featruing some great songs of the 40's, 50's and 60's, plus some newer favorites. King can be found performing throughout the Thompson-Okanagan region, and credits influences influences ranging from the Eagles, The Beatles, Doobie Brothers, Hank Williams, Garth Brooks, and Keith Urban. King seeks to entertain by playing music he really enjoys — so his sets often move among his diverse tastes, from tender ballads, country two-steps, bluesy songs, Latin music, modern standards, and high energy classic rock ‘n roll.

As an original artist, King has had several songs on national and regional radio over the years and has received a variety of recognition for his music. His breakout album in the early 1980’s featured the charted country hit song, “Call Mary,” an uptempo and fun song about what can happen when graffiti and loneliness collide. With national radio coverage, “Call Mary” also ranked #4 on an Ontario station and won the $10,000 grand prize in a Vancouver radio station competition.  Full bio

late Spring 2024

Longer days. Less intense cold and a little more heat in the sun. Dwindling snow, robins in the trees and grass poking up out of the ground - we have "survived" another Canadian winter it seems. Musically there have been some changes for me. The biggest was my decision to leave the cover band I was in - great tunes and great guys, but my oh my did it take up a lot of time and energy! My deeper desire is to focus more on song-writing, and playing original songs, and hence the decision. Luckily I still get ot play a huge variety of covers with the solo shows.

I am super-excited to announce an upcoming RPK solo concert in Vernon. It will be held June 2nd at the Vernon Elks Club - tickets are available through Eventbrite, and I have a few available as well. The first half will be a solo acoustic set, and the second set will feature backing tracks, and will be very dance-friendly. Can't wait!

In the meantime, I look forward to playing solo and also playing in a “niche” duo called Tangerine. My dear friend George, who plays amazing things on accordian, and I have joined forces to put together a set of great dance tunes from the 40's, 50's and 60's. Timeless,Tantalizing and Toe-tapping Tunes, done to a T. Please check out the calendar regarding my public events in the coming months.

Stay happy, kind and positive! And, wherever you are, enjoy lots and lots of live music!
